These pots came about after being inspired by my son’s burnt custard, followed shortly after by burnt peas and mouldy pancakes, which left an interesting pattern and colours, not to mention a scrubbing opportunity. There is a visual excitement when looking at delicious food, often sated by eating. I am exploring transferring visual excitement related to food to a kind of deliciousness in ceramics that has to be sated by pleasure in looking at and wanting to touch the pots; so the food doesn’t always have to be delicious to eat.
